Two new books

I have selected two of the latest arrivals in the New Books section to share with you. The first is called "This is my Duck", by Sam Taplin and Stephanie Jones (2008). It is an 'Usborne Noisy Touchy-Feely' book, with different textures to feel on every page, as well as a great green button just begging to be pressed so you can hear what the little duck has to say. This is a brilliant book for babies and toddlers, and is even suitable for up to 3-4 year old children. The illustrations are beautiful, with lots of repetition in the text. A very good book.

The second book is aimed at slightly older children: "Pirates Don't Babysit", by Melinda Long (2007). What I love about this book is the illustrations; they are bold and sassy, and portray very vividly the central character's imaginary world, populated by pirates (of course). The writing is strong and draws you right into the tale, it even had me speaking with me very best pirate accent. A wonderful story: it got the stamp of approval at last week's Story Time.
Have you looked at the New Books section lately?
